Hiyasat: Foreign Accounts Target Jordanian Women, Public Security on Alert

By Dr. Mais Hiyasat

The Public Security Directorate continues its firm efforts to track down foreign social media accounts targeting Jordanian female leaders through the circulation of fabricated and offensive images — a desperate attempt to undermine their reputation and social standing. Such behaviour reflects a dangerous moral decline, far removed from the authentic values of Jordanian society, which has long been known for respecting women and honouring their central role in building the nation.

Since its founding, Jordan has been among the first Arab countries to believe in women’s potential, opening doors for them to take part in national development. Today, Jordanian women hold leadership positions across the public and private sectors — from parliament and ministries to security institutions — proving their competence and excellence in every field of work and creativity.

The efforts of the Cybercrime Unit fall within this context of safeguarding these achievements and defending the image of the Jordanian woman, who has become a regional model of success and integrity. Online attacks do not merely target individuals; they seek to undermine collective accomplishments built over decades of dedication and hard work. Protecting women from online defamation is, in essence, protecting society itself — as women’s success and leadership reflect the level of awareness and progress the nation has reached.

Amid these challenges, the Public Security Directorate — and we as citizens — affirm that confronting such campaigns requires social responsibility and awareness. This means refraining from sharing rumours or spreading harmful content, and promptly reporting any offensive material or suspicious links. The vigilant citizen stands as the first line of defence against attempts at intellectual and digital infiltration aimed at sowing distrust and distorting national figures.

What the Public Security Directorate is doing is not merely a security measure — it is a defence of the dignity of Jordanian women and their historic achievements. The Jordanian woman, who has advanced with confidence and determination, will not be shaken by rumours or fabricated images. She remains a true partner in the nation’s growth — a symbol of dignity, perseverance, and creativity.
