Damascus, Jan 18 — Director of Government Communication at Syrian Ministry of Energy Ahmad Al-Suleiman says agreements in place with Jordan to supply gas and cooperate on electricity, with studies under preparation to launch cooperation between two countries in coming days.
Al-Suleiman says technical teams enter key economic and service facilities in eastern Syria, including Euphrates Dam, Al-Babiri power station and several oil fields. He says fields heavily deteriorated and require detailed technical assessment for rehabilitation and development.
He says Euphrates Dam among largest facilities in Syria, containing power generation systems and solid water reserves, but needs rehabilitation and technical study.
Al-Suleiman says Al-Babiri station on Euphrates River among largest in Middle East, supplying Aleppo city and countryside. Technical teams enter site and begin assessment ahead of rehabilitation and maintenance.
He adds initial technical studies to be followed by set timeline to rehabilitate facilities and return them to service in most suitable manner.
Al-Suleiman says some facilities deliberately sabotaged, including bridges near Al-Babiri station, blaming Kurdish-led SDF for recent actions. He says national technical teams will work to rebuild, rehabilitate and maintain facilities.
