Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held phone calls with Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss the serious regional escalation and its security, economic, and political implications regionally and internationally.
Safadi condemned the Iranian attacks on Jordanian territory and Gulf Cooperation Council states, describing them as violations of international law and state sovereignty. He affirmed that Jordan is taking all necessary steps to protect its security, stability, and citizens, and reiterated the Kingdom’s solidarity with Gulf states in confronting any aggression. The ministers expressed their countries’ solidarity with Jordan.
Safadi stressed the importance of collective efforts to reduce tensions and activate diplomacy as the path toward restoring security and stability. The Dutch foreign minister affirmed his country’s solidarity with Jordan, and both sides agreed to strengthen friendly relations, expand cooperation in various fields, and maintain coordination.
The calls also addressed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. Safadi emphasized the need not to overlook the suffering in Gaza amid the focus on Iran, underscoring the importance of ending the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip and fully implementing all provisions of the Gaza plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
He also warned against Israeli measures in the West Bank, including annexation attempts, describing them as violations of international law and undermining prospects for peace. Safadi further stressed that the continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and preventing worshippers from accessing it constitutes an infringement on freedom of worship that requires a clear international to halt it.
