In a tense moment during the annual FIFA Congress on Thursday, Jibril Rajoub, President of the Palestinian Football Association, refused to shake hands with Basem Al-Sheikh Suleiman, Vice President of the Israeli Football Association.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino had called both men to the stage, but Rajoub declined to shake hands with Suleiman, an Arab-Israeli.
When asked about Rajoub's refusal, Susan Shalabi, Vice President of the Palestinian Football Association who was present in the hall, stated: "I cannot shake hands with someone the Israelis brought to whitewash the image of their fascism and genocide. We are suffering."
Israel denies committing genocide in Gaza.
