Israel has forced about 40,000 Palestinians to flee their homes in the occupied West Bank since the start of 2025, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, said on Saturday.

He said in press remarks that house demolitions carried out by Israeli settlers in the first week of May resulted in the displacement of 42 Palestinians, including 24 children.

The Israeli occupation army and settlers, who launch attacks under the army's protection, continue their relentless assaults in all West Bank towns, Haq said.

Settlers target Palestinians, the indigenous inhabitants of the area, and their property, he pointed out.
