Relative calm has prevailed over Strait of Hormuz following days of sporadic clashes, while United States awaits Iran's response to latest proposals aimed at ending conflict that has lasted over two months and initiating peace talks.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated Friday that Washington expects response within hours. However, one day later, there was no sign of movement from Tehran regarding proposal, which would officially end war before beginning talks on more sensitive issues, including Iranian nuclear program.
Rubio met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Miami Saturday. U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in statement that they discussed need to continue working together "to deter threats and promote stability and security throughout Middle East." Statement did not specifically mention Iran.
