U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday evening that he decided to suspend a military attack scheduled for "tomorrow" against Iran, following a request from the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Trump added, in a post on his platform "Truth Social," that the Gulf leaders informed him that "serious negotiations" are currently underway, and that an agreement "highly acceptable" to the United States and Middle East countries "will be reached."
Trump pointed out that the anticipated agreement will ensure "Iran does not possess nuclear weapons."
The U.S. President explained that he issued instructions to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Daniel Cain, and U.S. forces not to execute the scheduled attack on Iran, while keeping forces in a state of readiness "to launch a wide-scale attack at any moment" if what he described as an "acceptable" agreement is not reached.
