Jerusalem Governorate: Targeting Khan al-Ahmar aims to separate the northern West Bank from its south within a long-term colonial plan.
Jerusalem Governorate: Forced displacement of Bedouin communities is a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
Jerusalem Governorate warns: Evacuating Khan al-Ahmar threatens the displacement of dozens of Palestinian communities surrounding Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate warned on Tuesday of the danger surrounding the approval by the far-right Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, to push forward with the evacuation of the Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin community east of occupied Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate considered this step a dangerous escalation in the policy of forced displacement implemented by the occupation government against the Palestinian people. It further stressed that this reveals the determination of the Israeli right-wing government to forge ahead with implementing annexation and colonial expansion projects, as well as imposing facts by force on occupied Palestinian land.
The governorate emphasized that the targeting of Khan al-Ahmar comes within the context of a long-term strategic colonial project targeting the eastern area of occupied Jerusalem. It aims to complete colonial geographic continuity that separates the northern West Bank from its south, effectively destroying any possibility of establishing a geographically contiguous and viable Palestinian state.
