Jordan Media Commission (JMC) spokesperson Omar Homsi on Wednesday denied reports circulated on social media alleging the commission has sent text messages to content creators demanding payments.

In a statement, Homsi said neither the JMC nor any other government body has sent such messages, confirming the commission had launched an investigation into the source of the fraudulent texts.

Homsi noted this probe comes in coordination with the National Cybersecurity Center and the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, with legal action to follow.
