Finalizing the Framework: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that his country is currently "in the process of finalizing" a framework of understanding with the United States. This development follows a visit to Tehran by Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, whose country is leading mediation efforts to end the war in the Middle East.
The Nuclear File Excluded: Baghaei stated to official television that the nuclear file will not be part of the proposed understanding framework with the United States at this stage.
Prioritizing an Immediate Ceasefire: Explaining the decision, Baghaei noted: "At this stage, we will not address the details of the nuclear issue. We know that our nuclear file has previously been used as a pretext for two wars against the Iranian people." Consequently, Iran has chosen to "prioritize an urgent matter: ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon."
Future Negotiations: The spokesperson added that Iran intends for the nuclear issue and other matters to be discussed separately at a later time—specifically within 30 to 60 days, or any agreed-upon timeframe. He emphasized that, for the time being, Iran's absolute priority is putting an end to the war.
