The most prominent historical, archaeological and tourist landmarks were illuminated in red on Saturday evening in a nationwide display of support for the national football team ahead of its FIFA World Cup 2026 clash against Algeria on Tuesday.

The initiative transformed a number of the Kingdom's iconic landmarks into symbols of national solidarity, with red lighting illuminating Umm Al-Jimal Archaeological Site, selected landmarks in Jerash, Madaba Archaeological Hill, the Church of the Apostles in Madaba, Aqaba Archaeological Church, Jabal Al-Qal'a and the Umayyad Palace in Amman, Shobak Castle, Qasr Shabeeb in Zarqa, Ajloun Castle, Aqaba Castle and Abdoun Bridge.

The coordinated initiative is part of wider national and institutional efforts to rally public support behind the national team during its historic debut at the FIFA World Cup finals while reinforcing the festive atmosphere across the Kingdom.

The red illumination also reflects the national team's official colors for its Group J encounter with Algeria, with organizers calling on supporters across Jordan to wear red as a visible expression of backing for the Nashama.

The initiative coincides with a series of nationwide fan events, including live public screenings of Jordan's World Cup matches at the Roman Theatre in Amman and multiple venues across the governorates, allowing supporters to gather and follow the team's World Cup journey in a unified national setting.

Jordan enters Tuesday's match backed by strong nationwide support and growing optimism as the team looks to build on its performances during its first-ever appearance at the FIFA World Cup, a milestone widely celebrated as one of the most significant achievements in the country's football history.
