The Cybercrime Unit at Jordan's Public Security Directorate (PSD) has issued an official warning to citizens regarding deceptive advertisements targeting individuals looking to purchase vehicles or rent vacation farms online.
According to the unit, fraudsters frequently operate across social media platforms and digital marketplaces by publishing fictitious listings for cars and holiday properties. The scammers typically pressure victims into making immediate down payments or booking deposits to secure the deal before the offer allegedly expires. Once the digital transfer is completed, the perpetrators sever all communication.
Authorities urged the public to exercise caution and avoid rushing into digital transactions. The Cybercrime Unit emphasized that no funds should be transferred prior to physically inspecting the vehicle or property on-site, verifying all official documentation, and confirming the advertiser's true identity.
