The National Charter Party participated today in an event organized by the Coordination Committee of Jordanian Political Parties to mark the 57th anniversary of the arson attack on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The gathering reaffirmed the firm stance of Jordanian political parties regarding Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, rejecting all violations and assaults targeting their identity and historical and legal status.
The event was attended by several Members of Parliament, Senators, Ministers, Secretaries-General, and representatives of the political parties within the Coordination Committee, alongside prominent national figures.
The program featured speeches highlighting the significance of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jordan's role in safeguarding the sanctities. Speakers included Chairman of the Parliamentary Palestine Committee MP Sulaiman Al-Sa'oud, Sheikh Dr. Murad Al-Rifai, and Father Nabil Haddad, who all emphasized the necessity of maintaining steadfast national positions in defense of Jerusalem.
At the conclusion of the event, a joint statement by the Coordination Committee was read aloud, emphasizing that the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque was not an isolated incident, but part of a continuous chain of aggression against Jerusalem and its holy places. The statement stressed that the entirety of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound—encompassing 144 dunums—is an exclusively Islamic holy site, and that the Hashemite Custodianship represents an established historical responsibility in protecting Jerusalem's sanctities.
The statement expressed pride in Jordan's stance under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in defending Jerusalem, supporting the resilience of its people, and maintaining the historical and legal status quo, while calling on the international community to uphold its responsibilities regarding ongoing violations.
Through its participation, the National Charter Party reiterated that Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque remain central to the conscience of all Jordanians, and that protecting these holy sites and preserving their Arab and Islamic identity remains an enduring national commitment.
