Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) Director Raed Al-Khattab announced that the Kingdom will be affected late Saturday night into Sunday by a cooler air mass accompanied by a weak atmospheric instability. The unusual weather system is expected to bring localized rain showers across far northern and central regions.
Speaking to Al-Mamlaka, Al-Khattab described the upcoming conditions as "unusual and uncommon" for this time of year, attributing the phenomenon to changing global climate patterns.
The rain showers are forecast for late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, arriving alongside a temperature of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below seasonal averages.
Precipitation is expected to expand across the north-central and central areas on Sunday, with a slight chance of light showers extending into the western districts of the capital, Amman. Early morning hours could also see sporadic light rain over parts of northern and central-western Jordan.
Winds will remain moderate westerly, picking up at times and potentially blowing dust in the eastern desert (Badia) regions.
