Spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stated on Friday that 4 of the injured Jordanians in the traffic accident that occurred on the Nuweiba–Dahab road are in intensive care, out of 11 injured Jordanians receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
Abdel Ghaffar added, in a statement to "Al-Mamlaka" on Friday, that the injured—including children and adults—suffer from varying injuries including bruises, cuts, and fractures, while some cases require surgical interventions.
He explained that among the recorded injuries are a lumbar spine fracture and incised wounds with a suspected skull base fracture, noting that some of the injured are being prepared for surgical operations.
He pointed out that the injured are receiving treatment at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, Al-Firouz Complex, and St. Catherine Hospital, clarifying that 4 cases are in intensive care, while the rest of the injured are receiving treatment in the regular wards.
Abdel Ghaffar indicated that there is continuous coordination with the relevant Jordanian authorities and the Jordanian Embassy in Egypt to follow up on the conditions of the injured and facilitate communication with their families.
He affirmed that transferring any of the injured to Jordan is contingent upon an assessment of their health condition, explaining that if medical reports indicate the possibility of transferring the injured person while maintaining their health safety, direct coordination is carried out with the Jordanian Embassy to take the necessary measures.
Abdel Ghaffar said that some of the other injured in the accident are in stable condition and are expected to be discharged from hospitals soon, while there are cases in intensive care and others being prepared for surgical interventions.
