On Sunday, Traffic Department personnel impounded a bus used for transporting school students despite it lacking basic public safety requirements and possessing an expired vehicle registration, posing a real danger to the lives of children and road users.
The Traffic Department explained that the seizure took place after monitoring a video clip showing the vehicle being used outside its designated purpose to transport students. This prompted competent authorities to initiate swift investigations, leading to the identification and tracking of the bus.
The vehicle was impounded in one of the Traffic Department's impound lots, and legal and administrative measures were taken against the driver for traffic violations.
The department emphasized that buses designated for student transportation carry a double responsibility for drivers, necessitating extreme caution and strict adherence to traffic and operational safety standards to safeguard lives.
