The trivalent seasonal influenza vaccine will become available in the private sector next October, according to the President of the Pharmacists Syndicate, Zaid Al-Kilani.
Al-Kilani stated to Al-Mamlaka that approximately 100,000 doses will be made available in the public sector, alongside additional quantities in private pharmacies across the Kingdom. He noted that vaccine prices in pharmacies are subject to pricing determined by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA).
The JFDA told Al-Mamlaka that the price of the trivalent flu vaccine is set at 8.04 JOD, while the quadrivalent vaccine is priced at 9.48 JOD.
Seasonal influenza is a highly contagious respiratory viral disease. The Ministry of Health recommends receiving the seasonal flu vaccine at the start of each winter season, particularly for individuals at higher risk of complications. High-risk groups include those with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer, and kidney dialysis patients, as well as pregnant women, the elderly, healthcare workers, immunocompromised individuals, thalassemia patients, and children aged 6 months to 5 years.
Data from the Ministry of Health’s implementation tracking report for its 2023–2025 strategic plan showed that the ministry adopted a clear national policy for seasonal flu vaccination and established a unified national database for vaccine recipients. The full approved quota of 75,000 doses was completely dispensed during 2025.
Ministry of Health guidelines also mandate that healthcare workers receive a single annual dose of the seasonal flu vaccine.
