AMMAN — Under the patronage and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC), Mentor Arabia, in partnership with the RFC, held the awards ceremony for the 6th edition of the "Youth Empowerment Films and Songs Competition" on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Amman Academy Theatre.
Held under the theme "Healthy Communication," the ceremony brought together over 500 cultural, artistic, media, and youth figures, alongside representatives from relevant regional and local entities.
During the event, Prince Ali was honored in recognition of his pioneering achievements in youth empowerment and his continuous support for youth potential through cultural, artistic, and athletic programs.
Awards were presented to 15 talented young winners aged 18 to 30 from across the Arab world, recognizing outstanding work in Narrative Short Films, Documentary Short Films, Promotional Films, Animated Films, Songs, and Podcasts. A Special Award was granted for the Best Young Jordanian Entry, while the Amman Chamber Orchestra received the Musical Excellence Award within the artistic creativity category.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Zain Jordan hosted a panel discussion via its Innovation Campus (ZINC). Moderated by journalist Razan Salameh and featuring members of the competition's judging panel, the session addressed the importance of "Healthy Communication" in spreading awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, inspiring career excellence, and providing mentorship opportunities for youth.
Launched in 2017, the competition has grown into a prominent regional initiative offering Arab youth a secure platform to address pressing social and humanitarian issues through creative media. Operating in collaboration with more than 80 strategic partners—including the RFC, Zain Jordan, Anghami, the Royal Society for Health Awareness, MBC Hope, and IEFTA—the initiative has engaged over 6,500 participants and produced 60 winners across six editions, while delivering specialized capacity-building workshops to more than 300 young creatives.
Previous editions of the competition's closing ceremonies have been held in Amman, Kuwait, and Doha, under the auspices of leaders and dignitaries including Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden.
The 6th edition's jury comprised a panel of prominent regional artists, directors, and specialists, including Saba Mubarak, Nelly Karim, Nassif Zeytoun, Aziz Maraka, Carmen Bsaibes, Abir Nehme, and Qays Sheikh Najib, among others.
Mentor Arabia, established in 2006 and chaired by HRH Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is a regional non-profit organization focused on empowering children and youth and preventing risky behaviors. It functions as part of Mentor International, founded in 1994 and presided over by HM Queen Silvia of Sweden. The Royal Film Commission – Jordan, established in 2003, is an autonomous public entity tasked with developing an internationally competitive audiovisual industry in Jordan.
