The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed on Tuesday the depth of the historic and well-established brotherly relations binding the Syrian Arab Republic and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The ministry noted that these relations have reached optimal levels of mutual understanding and shared commitment to the interests of both brotherly peoples, while emphasizing that Damascus is following recent field and security developments on the shared border with great concern and attention.
In an official statement, Syria renewed its strongest condemnation of the treacherous and criminal attack that targeted St. George Church days ago, describing it as a flagrant assault on religious and human values and a despicable attempt to undermine the cohesive social fabric of Jordan.
The Ministry offered its condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded. It stressed that recent field actions on the border are entirely rejected and unacceptable under any pretext, as they represent a clear violation of the principles of good neighborliness and Syrian national sovereignty, and run contrary to established frameworks of joint coordination.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that Syria is fully confident that suspicious entities are striving to disrupt the distinguished brotherly relations between the two countries, seeking to sow discord, heighten tension, and ignite crises between brothers.
Reaffirming the wisdom of both leaderships and their absolute keenness to preserve this brotherly relationship, the Ministry stated that work is currently underway, in direct coordination with Jordanian officials, to establish an urgent joint field and security committee. The committee aims to put an end to field violations, prevent their recurrence, secure and protect the shared border, and ensure full security and field coordination to block any attempts to compromise the security of both nations or spill the blood of their citizens.
