The head of the Anti-Zionism and Racism Society, Dr. Azmi Mansour, confirmed that the administrative body of the society decided to dismiss the head of the Al-Wehdat Club, Dr. Bashar Al-Hawamdeh, from the membership of the general body of the society unanimously.
Mansour said that the decision of the administrative body came as a result of Al-Hawamdeh’s violation of the association’s goals, following his decision to participate in the match that brought together the Al-Wehdat Club team with Al-Ahly Dubai in the AFC Champions League playoff.
Mansour explained that Al-Wahdat Club management consulted the association about playing with the Al-Ahly Dubai team, and Al-Wahdat management was informed not to play with this team as it is normalized, and that the original is to reject and reject the normalized team, not honor it, rejecting in the same context the excuse that the match was the result of a “lottery.”
Mansour added that the association views the incident as more dangerous than simply playing a match with a normalized club, noting that it came as part of a series of targeting Palestinian refugee camps that several Arab countries witnessed.
Dr. Mansour pointed out that “Al-Hawamdeh’s philosophy is that playing with normalizers is not considered normalization,” stressing in the same context that “normalizers should be shunned and rejected, not honored.”
Mansour called on all Jordanian clubs not to participate in any activity that would violate the boycott standards or honor normalizers, calling for them to always be ostracized in all forums.
