Zain Jordan announced the official start of the fifth generation (5G) network through its network in several regions in the Kingdom, and offered the service commercially to its customers and subscribers, after completing all the experimental stages and completing all the necessary tests for this network, to introduce this technology and advanced technology to The Kingdom with high efficiency to maintain the confidence of its customers and subscribers, who are accustomed to excellence and keeping pace with the latest communications technologies, in a way that meets their ambitions and is compatible with their aspirations, and for Zain to maintain its position as the largest and most advanced network in the Kingdom.
The Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Al-Hanandeh, expressed his pride in Zain’s announcement of the official start of the fifth generation (5G) network across its network in several regions of the Kingdom and its commercial launch for individuals and companies to be an important and distinctive addition to the infrastructure of the communications and information technology sector in Jordan, and a continuation of the company’s contributions. Zain's support and development of the telecommunications sector, which contributed directly and indirectly to accelerating and supporting economic growth, social stability and the growth of the environment for entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation.
Al-Hanandeh stressed that fifth generation services not only provide high speed of communication and downloading data, but have proven to be a real engine for developing the business and services of all industries and sectors and increasing the productivity of economic sectors. They also constitute an essential factor for the success of the digital transformation process for the public and private sectors, and accommodating the significant increase in the use of the Internet in the country. For his part, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Eng. Bassam Fadel Al-Sarhan, congratulated Zain on launching the fifth generation services, and stressed that the introduction of these services constitutes a Jordanian success story through which the Authority was able to support the private sector and encourage it to invest after signing the settlement agreement with the licensees and others. It was followed by the signing of agreements that gave companies an incentive plan to launch fifth generation services, in preparation for creating an updated infrastructure that keeps pace with the latest global developments in the field of technology and services, leading to an advanced communications sector that stimulates digital transformation that supports the growth of the rest of the other vital sectors, economic, health, educational, and others, to raise the level of services provided to citizens. Regardless of their needs and contributing to the creation of new job opportunities in addition to increasing revenues and developing economic growth in the future.
Al-Sarhan said that providing these services will reflect positively on all sectors and will enable individuals and institutions to access services that require high speeds. Fifth generation technologies will also be used to access innovative services such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and digital product applications that support the construction of smart cities in the future. In the near future, it will also work to accelerate and make the digital transformation process successful and provide an experience that is in line with the Royal Vision for Jordan for the year 2025.

Zain explained that it has covered a large number of areas in the Kingdom with the latest fifth generation networks in accordance with the best international standards, and through the technology (64T64R Massive MIMO Antenna), which is being used for the first time in Jordan, as several areas in the capital, Amman, have been strengthened, especially the vital and central ones. With the largest number of fifth generation stations, to ensure the provision of the best experience ever to Zain customers from individuals and business sectors, while the company will continue to work on expanding the scope of service coverage to include new areas during the next stages and by the year 2024, reaching comprehensive coverage in all governorates of the Kingdom within the stages of the plan. The company is expanding the service through this technology, which is distinguished by its efficiency and high speed, which reaches 1.7 gigabits per second, i.e. 10 times the speed provided by the fourth generation network.
Zain's fifth generation network provides its business users with huge capacity, allowing access to innovative solutions and services such as augmented and virtual reality technologies, automation, robotics, support for Internet of Things (IOT) applications, the closed data network (VPN over 5G), and intelligence applications. This technology will also serve development in large sectors, such as the financial, transportation, security, construction, agriculture, health, and other sectors, and will provide an important opportunity for specialists and students to develop their research and studies and contribute to the growth of new technologies and industries, in addition to the entertainment aspect. The fifth generation network will take electronic gaming enthusiasts and professionals to a new experience and real fun with a group of cloud games through the “GeForce Now” service, which Zain provides exclusively in the Kingdom.
Zain has launched fifth generation services to its individual and business customers through a package of exclusive and distinctive offers starting at 22 dinars with a speed of 200 Mbps, reaching unlimited speeds. Zain subscribers can choose the appropriate device from the latest devices operating with advanced WIFI6 technology, whether a router or Mobile router (Mi-Fi). Zain also provides exclusively, and for the first time in Jordan, through fifth generation technology, a fixed wireless access service for home Internet users, via an external receiver characterized by high efficiency, as it allows the user to experience the use of fixed, high-speed Internet without interruption.
Zain Jordan had conducted the first live operating trial of the fifth generation network in the Kingdom during the past year, after signing an agreement with the government represented by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in preparation for introducing fifth generation services to the Kingdom, while the fifth generation network was operated after completing all experiments and verification. From the efficiency of the service, Nokia was chosen by Zain to supply its fifth generation network equipment throughout the Kingdom.
