The Ministry of Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding with Zain Jordan; This is with the aim of supporting national afforestation and agricultural extension plans in the Kingdom, through cooperation between the two parties to work to increase green areas, develop agricultural projects and support Jordanian farmers, in addition to organizing awareness-raising activities about the dangers of climate change and environmental and agricultural challenges, and holding workshops and training courses on agricultural development. .
The Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Khaled Al-Hunaifat, confirmed that the Ministry is open to partnerships with companies and institutions to support opportunities for forestry and green areas, in addition to mechanisms for communication, follow-up and oversight of projects and the transfer of modern technology that are in line with the Ministry’s plans to develop the sector.
Zain stated that this step comes within the framework of its keenness to intensify cooperation with all concerned parties to achieve environmental sustainability and maintain environmental balance to ensure a sustainable future for current and future generations, and to confirm - within its sustainable strategy - its commitment to achieving the sustainable development goals that it adopts in all its programs and initiatives. Especially the eleventh goal (sustainable cities and communities), the thirteenth goal (climate action), the fifteenth goal (life on land), and the seventeenth goal (establishing partnerships to achieve the goals), as Zain, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, will continue to launch environmental campaigns on... Social media platforms and various means of advertising to raise awareness in the field of environmental protection, and publish opinion polls and questionnaires on its pages on social media sites to measure the extent of public awareness and evaluate individuals’ behaviors. Based on the results, Zain will take measures such as increasing environmental awareness campaigns, developing new policies and programs, and encouraging community participation in Environmental initiatives and stimulating action to confront climate change.
Zain will also continue its support for Jordanian farmers and the planting of trees in various governorates of the Kingdom, especially in its forest located in the Thagharat Asfour area in Jerash Governorate, which it reopened in 2021 in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Forestry Directorate, as Zain indicated that the number of trees it has planted so far has reached 14,500 forest and fruit trees in its forests and in several regions of the Kingdom
