The United States announced, on Thursday night, that it had carried out air strikes targeting four booby-trapped drone boats and seven cruise missiles that were “ready to be launched against ships in the Red Sea” by the Houthis in Yemen, according to the Washington Times.

The US military command for the Middle East (Centcom) said on the X platform that these boats and missiles had been spotted “in areas of Yemen controlled by the Houthis” and represented an “imminent threat.”

The US Army announced earlier Thursday that it launched strikes on Wednesday night against Houthi positions, confirming that they were preparing to launch missiles at commercial ships in the Red Sea off the Yemeni coast.

Since November 19, the Houthis have carried out dozens of attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, which they suspect are linked to Israel or heading to its ports.
