S Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that US-Jordanian relations have expanded over more than seven decades to promote comprehensive economic development, enhance opportunities for women and youth, ensure sustainable access to safe drinking water, and enhance trade relations.
He added in a statement, on the occasion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, that strengthening security cooperation between the two countries, enhancing regional stability, and sustaining humanitarian efforts were the cornerstones of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He continued: “Our partnership has flourished over the past 75 years thanks to the strong ties between the peoples of the two countries as well as between our leaders,” according to Blinken, who stressed that “this strong foundation will enable us to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries in the future.”
He stressed that the United States will remain committed to supporting Jordan on its path toward greater prosperity and stability under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and looks forward to deepening our historic security, economic, and cultural relations.
He added, "Today we celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. On February 18, 1949, Wells Stabler presented his credentials as the first temporary US Chargé d'Affairs in Jordan. Since then, our countries have become partners, allies, and close friends."
