Today, Sunday, the Council of Ministers held a session chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, during which it approved a set of agreements and memorandums of understanding in a number of fields, in preparation for signing them with a number of countries and international bodies.

The Cabinet also reviewed the periodic report of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply on the measures taken to reduce price increases and preserve the strategic stock of basic materials.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Youssef Al-Shamali, stated during the session that the Ministry is continuing to conduct supervisory tours of markets and establishments, as about 1,972 visits were carried out to commercial establishments during the last period, resulting in 103 violations being issued in accordance with the law.
Regarding the prices of basic commodities, Al-Shamali confirmed that by monitoring the average prices of 90 basic commodities, the second week of April witnessed stability in the prices of 64 basic commodities, and a decrease in 23 other commodities, while the markets witnessed an increase in the prices of 3 commodities, including one type of imported meat and two types of vegetables.
He reiterated that the strategic stock of basic commodities, including wheat and barley, is sufficient for safe periods of time, and that freight movement is proceeding at a normal pace.
