UNICEF said Monday that an average of 28 children are killed every day in Gaza due to ongoing Israeli bombardment and starvation, continuing for over 660 days.

In a statement, the organisation said children in Gaza are dying from “bombings, malnutrition, hunger, and lack of aid and essential services,” adding: “In Gaza, an average of one classroom of children — 28 — is killed daily.”

The UN body stressed that “children in Gaza need food, water, medicine, and protection. Most importantly, they need a ceasefire — now.”

Meanwhile, the UN reported that over 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza since May while trying to access food or at aid distribution points, which Israel has militarised, as well as along UN aid routes.
