Copper and other base metals gained Friday as investors awaited key US jobs figures expected later in the day, which could influence the Federal Reserve’s next interest rate decision.

According to Bloomberg, copper rose 0.6% to $9,959 per ton at 12:28 p.m. Shanghai time, after hitting a five-month high of $10,038 earlier this week. Aluminium and zinc also advanced 0.4%.
