*Hamdan: Al-Ahliyya Amman appreciates the vital role adopted by the Hashemite leadership towards the Palestinian cause
The President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Sari Hamdan, said that the Hashemite leadership has a long history of unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and solidarity with the Palestinian people, as its strong positions in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and achieving their will to decide their future, which includes the establishment of their independent state on the borders of the fourth of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This came during a dialogue meeting organized by the Knights of Change Association for Political Development and Civil Society Development in cooperation with Al-Ahliyya Amman University under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Faisal Al-Fayez / Speaker of the Senate, in which the former Minister of Information, His Excellency Eng. Sakhr Dudin, His Excellency Dr. Jamal Al-Shamayleh, a politician and former minister, Mr. Musa Al-Saket, an economist, and Ms. Nevine Ayasrah, a member of the Knights of Change Association, participated in the presence of vice presidents, deans of faculties, faculty and administrative staff members, and university students. Where the dialogue started with a minute of silence and reading Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs of Palestine and Gaza.
In his speech, Hamdan referred to the vital role played by Jordan throughout its rich history of cohesion and cooperation in supporting the Palestinian people and promoting their just cause, praising the humanitarian and political efforts made to achieve peace and stability in the region, which reflects the Hashemite leadership’s firm commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
The President also mentioned that Al-Ahliyya Amman University provided support to parents in Gaza through the Hashemite Charity Organization, as well as assistance and support to Gazan students present at the university by exempting them from all tuition fees due until graduation.
At the political level, Dr. Jamal Al-Shamayleh spoke about the Jordanian diplomacy led by His Majesty the King, which contributed to correcting the course of the global discourse towards the Palestinian cause and the tragic events in the Gaza Strip, and the subsequent procedural steps in this context, we find that the Secretary-General of the United Nations clearly referred in his speech to the Security Council on October 25 to the seriousness of the unjustified situation in Gaza. And here I quote that, divisions tear societies apart. At such a crucial moment, it is important to be clear about principles — beginning with the fundamental principle of respect for and protection of civilians. Nothing can justify the killing and wounding of civilians.
For his part, the former Minister of Information, His Excellency Eng. Sakhr Dudin, stressed the need for universities to confront this aggression, by arming students with science, knowledge and the ability to lead and innovate, and providing them with the skills required in wartime, to advance the homelands and defend them with science and civilization.
Economist Mr. Musa Al-Saket stressed that we all call today with one voice, led by our Hashemite leadership, to move to push for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protect civilians, mitigate the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, and deliver aid without interruption.
Ms. Nevin Ayasrah, a member of the Knights of Change Association, moderated the dialogue with the speakers and the attendees.
