Assistant Director of Operations and Control Directorate Brigadier Nael Shafiq confirmed that more than 3,000 daily calls are received by emergency phones 911 related to traffic specifically, in addition to thousands of other calls.
Brigadier Shafiq said that about half of these calls and at a daily rate of up to 1,300 calls are linked to a violation of random parking of vehicles that block the road to other vehicles.
He pointed out that this phenomenon causes inconvenience to citizens and road users and is a “violation” of traffic because the perpetrator knows the consequences of what may happen from confusion to the road and closure of traffic, not to mention the amount of work required by the situation to deal with the note.
He pointed out through the Public Security Radio that a specialized cell to deal with this type of reports on the emergency phone 911, follows up immediately through the number of the vehicle reported and reaches the phone number of its owner through the traffic or licensing department in order to open the road directly and quickly.
In the event of non-response, a winch is moved to lift the offending vehicle and open the road to its users.
He stressed the need for vehicle owners and in the event of renewing their vehicle license to their data with working and effective phone numbers through the licensing department in order to reach the owner of the vehicle quickly, which avoids the traffic groups from lifting the vehicle by winch.
Shafiq pointed out that most of these reports reach the emergency phone 911 from inside the hospital yards, which are in urgent need of movement immediately, in addition to closing the entrances of some private home positions, stressing that getting rid of this violation is easy and requires only choosing a correct and sound place for parking.
