Iranian state television reported on Tuesday that no Iranian delegation has yet headed to Pakistan to participate in talks with the United States, as the deadline for the expiration of the truce between the two parties approaches.
State television stated that "no Iranian delegation, whether primary or secondary, has departed for Islamabad, Pakistan, so far," thereby denying reports that had confirmed the opposite.
The television quoted Iranian officials as saying: "We do not accept negotiating under threats and the violation of commitments," and "the continued participation in negotiations depends on a change in the Americans' behavior and positions."
The United States has expressed confidence that peace talks with Iran will be held in Pakistan, and a senior Iranian official said that Tehran is considering participating in them, but major obstacles and a state of uncertainty remain as the ceasefire nears its end.
