French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday the death of a second French soldier serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), who succumbed to wounds sustained in the southern part of the country.

According to a report by France 24, Macron stated via X that the soldier had been medically evacuated to France on Monday following a severe injury. "He passed away this morning from his wounds," the president confirmed.

The death marks the second fatality among French UNIFIL personnel this week, highlighting the growing risks faced by international peacekeepers stationed along the volatile border region.
