Everyone knows that we do not subscribe to the idea that "politics is the art of the possible," nor that whoever assumes political office is necessarily a genius. There is a distinct difference between a true politician and someone who merely occupies a political position.
At any rate, the world does not produce geniuses every day, and politics cannot them. Genius comes neither by election nor by appointment.
Those who manage political affairs usually ascend to their positions through elections or appointments—a process that varies among nations, but differs most fundamentally between civilized countries and others.
In civilized nations, you should not be surprised if an insignificant, simple, or naive individual rises to the head of authority, having climbed the ranks through a system of subservience ("Yes, Sir"). Yet, their vehicle for ascent was built upon institutional frameworks and laws that systematically directed them toward their fate—the very same fate that awaits the rest.
In uncivilized nations, however, the matter is bound to the satisfaction of the ruling authority, whose path and speed are dictated by the "Yes-Sir brigade." Powered by the practice of writing espionage reports, this group elevates riffraff into high-ranking officials.
In both phenomena, there is neither true politics nor true politicians. Politics is an act of genius that can only be forged by a genius. The world is stingy in granting us such individuals and refuses to give birth to them every day. A genius creates politics, and the politics they may produce an administrator, but it can never produce a politician.
