Moroccan and Jordanian identity took center stage on the seventh night of the 40th Jerash Festival's activities, as the Northern Theater hosted "Al-Corale Antom" ("You Are the Chorus"), led by Moroccan musician Bouchaib's ensemble.
Bouchaib welcomed the Jordanian people and the Moroccan community, introducing his band members and performing an original composition blending Jordanian, Moroccan, and Western musical styles.
Jordanian artist Ahmad Al-Simawi on the nay and Moroccan artist Walid Nadi on the violin opened the concert with a piece merging Jordanian and Moroccan artistry, both dressed in folkloric attire representing their respective heritages.
The band performed a range of songs the audience sang along to, moving through a set that carried the crowd from classic favorites into a piece that brought in the drum for an Eastern dance rhythm.
Amid dancing and applause from the crowd, Jordanian artist Amir Hosni performed a medley of Jordanian folk songs, while Jordanian artist Yasmine performed the patriotic song "Ya Bayraqna Al-Aali."
Bouchaib praised Yasmine's skill in performing a well-known Moroccan-dialect song.
In his closing remarks, Bouchaib expressed his happiness at meeting the Jordanian people for the first time, praising their enthusiasm, warm welcome, and generous hospitality.
He thanked His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein for his patronage and the Moroccan ambassador to Jordan, expressing his hope for future collaborations.
In remarks to the Jerash Festival Media Committee, Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Fouad Kharif praised the evening's performances, highlighting the importance of such events in strengthening cultural and human ties between the two countries.
