U.S. President Donald Trump expressed gratitude on Tuesday to Jordan and several other nations for their contributions toward stabilizing the Gaza Strip through the training of local police forces, during his address before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Trump noted that while the war in Gaza was raging a year prior with hostages held by Hamas, steps taken by the United States altered the trajectory of the crisis. He stated that the conflict in Gaza concluded within weeks, saving thousands of lives and securing the return of all hostages, both living and deceased.
The U.S. President expressed appreciation to the UN Security Council for unanimously adopting a 20-point peace plan for Gaza and officially endorsing the establishment of the "Board of Peace." He added that 30 countries have joined the council, which he chairs, while highlighting financial commitments made by various nations for Gaza's reconstruction, including Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.
Trump further stated that since assuming office, he has overseen the settlement of eight conflicts globally—citing disputes involving Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, India and Pakistan, and Armenia and Azerbaijan, alongside the war in Gaza.
He explained that his administration utilized trade policies, tariffs, and diplomatic leverage in managing these disputes, adding that personal relationships with foreign leaders facilitated these negotiated settlements. Trump noted that leaders of the involved nations communicated their gratitude, highlighting that the Prime Minister of Pakistan credited his administration with helping bring their conflict to an end.
