Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, asserted that Jordan will not permit any displacement of Palestinians into the Kingdom, describing such potential forced migration as an existential threat that Jordan will confront with all available capabilities.
In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Al-Safadi stated that His Majesty King Abdullah II presented a direct and candid assessment of reality during his United Nations General Assembly address. He noted that the international community listened attentively to the Royal address, which served as an urgent warning that failure to immediately halt Israeli measures will inevitably drag the region into escalated conflict. He added that Jordan views unilateral Israeli actions destabilizing the West Bank as a threat to overall regional security.
Al-Safadi remarked that the international community stands on one side while Israel stands on the other, emphasizing that global powers are increasingly recognizing the dangers of Israeli policies, driving a shift in international approaches toward regional stability. He highlighted that Jordanian diplomatic efforts this week, conducted in coordination with regional and international partners, focused heavily on addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and pressing for concrete measures to alleviate suffering in the Strip.
The Foreign Minister affirmed broad support for U.S. President Donald Trump's initiative to achieve stability in Gaza, describing it as an indispensable framework for ending the humanitarian catastrophe and securing long-term stability.
Regarding relations with Tehran, Al-Safadi emphasized that Jordan seeks regional security and constructive relations with all states. However, he stressed that fostering positive Arab-Iranian relations requires an immediate cessation of Iranian interventions that undermine Arab national security, as well as an end to unjustified attacks targeting the Kingdom and neighboring Arab nations.
Al-Safadi expressed Jordan's support for ongoing diplomatic mediation led by Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, and Egypt to reach a political resolution. He stressed that a viable agreement must establish an immediate ceasefire and advance toward a comprehensive framework addressing historical drivers of tension.
He concluded by revealing that he met directly with Iran's Foreign Minister to emphasize the necessity of a political solution. Al-Safadi underlined that any durable settlement must guarantee respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, the protection of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and an absolute halt to aggressions against Jordan and Arabian Gulf states.
