U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States could "obliterate Iran," considering launching new attacks against it a possibility, while stating that Washington's position regarding Tehran is "very good" and that Iran wants to reach a deal.
Trump added that Iran cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, noting that its proposal regarding reopening the Strait of Hormuz is insufficient, and predicting that oil prices will to previous levels once an agreement is reached.
He stated that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz, having escorted the largest volume of oil through it overnight. He also denied reports of U.S. ammunition shortages, affirming that his country possesses large quantities of ammunition.
Trump noted that resuming attacks on Iran after the U.S. midterm elections remains possible.
