The Indian pilot who was attacked during the flydubai flight incident told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday that he opened the cockpit door while being assaulted, according to a video released by the Prime Minister's Office on Friday.
An Israeli official clarified on Wednesday that a flydubai aircraft bound from Dubai to Tel Aviv carrying approximately 100 Israelis diverted to Saudi Arabia after transmitting emergency signals following an altercation between the pilots, rather than a hijacking attempt.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office confirmed that the incident is not believed to be a hijacking, while Israeli media reported that the event is no longer classified as a security threat.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu praised Indian pilot Sumeet Machhar, who sustained severe injuries after being stabbed during the flydubai flight, stating that his bravery averted an aviation disaster and saved the lives of 174 people, including Israelis and foreign nationals.
