ABU DHABI — UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi announced on Saturday that investigations into an incident onboard a Flydubai flight revealed the aircraft's co-pilot initiated an attempted act of terrorism mid-flight.
Al Shamsi clarified that the co-pilot began executing his plan during the flight by attacking the captain inside the cockpit using an emergency axe in an attempt to seize control of the aircraft's flight instruments.
The Attorney General confirmed that investigations remain ongoing to uncover the full circumstances, underlying motives, and potential external affiliations linked to the event, alongside technical assessments and digital forensics. Official final results will be announced upon the completion of legal and investigative procedures.
