Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that his country is "serious about finding diplomatic solutions," while affirming that it is simultaneously "serious about defending itself" amid ongoing disagreements with the United States.
Araghchi expressed hope that Washington would move in a "path of wisdom and logic," emphasizing that Tehran remains prepared should the United States lean toward military action.
He clarified that the Strait of Hormuz will be fully reopened within seven days if Iran's conditions are accepted and hostile measures are lifted, noting that Tehran presented a seven-day plan at the United Nations General Assembly to settle disputes and end ongoing confrontations with the United States.
Araghchi stated that Iran is ready to reach a fair solution through diplomatic channels, but maintains "readiness for a more destructive response" in the event of any military aggression.
He added that the welcoming of Iranian positions and proposals by international delegations in New York demonstrated what he described as the failure of the American-Israeli project to politically isolate Iran, asserting that "our message to the enemy is clear."
Baghaei: Reopening Hormuz Linked to US Measures
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is contingent on measures Washington must take, including ceasing the obstruction of Iranian navigation.
Baghaei denied that recent discussions addressed the nuclear file, and refuted claims that Tehran agreed to inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), emphasizing that such assertions are "groundless."
He stressed that Iran has always remained committed to fulfilling its obligations as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Ghalibaf: Hormuz Will Not Reopen Before Seven Conditions Are Met
In a related context, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the United States recently submitted proposals through a mediator, emphasizing that Washington must realize "the era of playing for time and imposing unilateral demands is over."
Ghalibaf stressed that Iran's stance is "entirely clear and firm," and that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened before the seven conditions set by Tehran are fulfilled, in accordance with what he referred to as the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
"We are fighting and negotiating simultaneously, utilizing diplomatic tools to consolidate our advantage on the battlefield and enforce the rights of the Iranian people," he added.
"The winner in the negotiation arena is the one prepared for war," Ghalibaf continued.
These Iranian statements follow Tehran's receipt of a US response to its diplomatic proposal via mediators, with disagreements between the two sides primarily centered on the sequence of implementing the proposed steps.
