AMMAN — Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Imad Hijazeen patronized on Monday the graduation ceremony for students of Ammon Applied University College, spanning bachelor’s degrees in hotel management, hotel management and event business management, alongside diploma programs in hotel management and culinary arts.
The ceremony was attended by the chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Company for Hotel and Tourism Education, the company's general manager, the director-general of the Jordan Tourism Board, representatives of tourism associations and college partners, members of the Board of Trustees, academic and administrative staff, and the graduates' families.
Minister Hijazeen, who serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the college, underscored the importance of continuously advancing academic and training programs to align with the evolving demands of local, regional, and international labor markets. He noted that these efforts rely on teamwork and sustained investment in academic and administrative talent, equipping graduates to compete and excel in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Addressing the graduates, Hijazeen urged them to pursue continuous learning, refine their language skills, and keep pace with technological advancements and artificial intelligence. He emphasized that success in tourism and hospitality originates from hands-on field experience and progressive skill development, noting that practical beginnings form a solid foundation for leadership roles. He added that the sector offers expansive career opportunities where passion, discipline, patience, and perseverance remain key drivers of professional advancement.
Ammon Applied University College Dean Prof. Ibrahim Al-Kurdi stated that the institution's mission extends beyond graduation ceremonies to actively preparing students for the workforce, cultivating their professional competencies, and synchronizing educational outcomes with the operational needs of the hospitality industry. He emphasized the college's ambition to graduate professionals equipped with high ethical and professional standards who serve as ambassadors for their country and contribute to the future of Jordan's tourism sector.
Highlighting a practical industry perspective, Crowne Plaza Amman General Manager, Deputy Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association, and Ammon Applied University College Board Member Hani Al-Dabbas shared his personal career journey, which began as a student at the college and advanced to senior leadership positions within hospitality management.
Al-Dabbas stressed that professional success requires translating academic theory into practical application, committing to continuous skill enhancement, mastering English, and strengthening communication and leadership capabilities. He called for deepened institutional partnerships between academic bodies and the hotel sector to adapt curricula to market needs, reiterating that commitment, lifelong learning, and initiative are essential for career progression.
The ceremony featured addresses by graduating students, the recognition of top-achieving scholars, the distribution of certificates and commemorative shields, and the presentation of a symbolic college shield to Minister Hijazeen in appreciation of his patronage.
